Valentine’s Day is approaching and what goes perfectly with love, roses + chocolate? MUSIC!

I have put together a V-Day Playlist with a few of my favorite songs that I listen to at some point throughout my weekly rotation. So, this isn’t going to be one of those typical “greatest love songs of all time” playlist with Boyz II Men “I’ll make love to you” + Whitney Houston “I will always love you” tracks. More so, a playlist with songs between the early 2000s and 2020 that fit the theme of “LOVE”.

Valentine’s Day isn’t celebrated equally. Some celebrate love + some celebrate the love they once had, but are now, or will soon be, glad is over. For the past lovers, we have “DONE” – the anti-v-day playlist.

2.14

2 Playlist. 14 songs each
*Both playlist are on Spotify and open for collaboration. Feel free to add some of your favorite songs.

“LOVE”:

While We’re Young- Jhené Aiko: Young, fresh + new love. Totally on the vibe of forget what anyone will have to say and let’s do what we feel in the moment.

You Da One- Rihanna: Finding yourself in a new relationship falling fast, head first + not hesitating because you don’t see anything wrong with it

Cater 2 U- Destiny’s Child: Wanting to show appreciation for your man being everything that he is for you + reciprocating the love by taking care of him for the night

Dance For You- Beyonće: All about giving yourself to one person and being comfortable enough to lose control

Boo’d up- Ella Mai: feels of being on top of the world + locked down/off the market with a significant other

The Truth- India Arie: Represents pure, true love that makes you feel that this is the only love meant for you and humbles you that you are lucky enough to experience it.

Love on the brain- Rihanna: A dangerous love that may not be the best for you physically or mentally but you can’t get enough. You’ll endure the bad to keep feeling the love

A.D.I.D.A.S. (All day I)- Ro James: Your significant other has you all twisted up in the game and you can’t help but think of being with him/her all day (if you know what I mean)

Lover – Taylor Swift: Lover has a romantic, wedding vibe. Love is great + perfect and now you are realizing you want forever with this person. So she asks, “Can I go where you go? Can we always be this close?”

Love- Musiq Soulchild: Classic love letter to love itself; emotional roller-coaster of longing for love + accepting that you will do anything for love

Best Part- H.E.R: Expresses that your significant other is the best part of life as you know it + you only need him/her to make it through

Still- Tamia: After years + years of being together, your love is still fun and as fresh as it was at the beginning of the relationship

My Love- The-Dream: Strong, consistant love that others may not understand, but you don’t care. You know it’s real.

“DONE”:

Valentine’s Day – Solange: Meet a guy, things go well but it turns into a weird back and forth kind of love that never makes it to the holidays.

Ex – Kiana Lede: Not wanting to cut ties with an ex because you still care about him/her and the friendship you had

I Changed my Mind – Keyshia Cole: Starts to get feelings for a guy and he doesn’t take her love seriously. So she decides to change her mind about him + the love she has

Triggered (freestyle) – Jhené Aiko: Freestyle full of frustration + passion regarding an ex. Upset about how things went down , but might get back with you when I calm down

One and Only – Mariah Carey: All you come across are people that break your heart and move on when all you want is someone that will treat you right.

Energy – Keri Hilson: Love goes from good to bad. You invest a lot into your relationship that isn’t reciprocated and it becomes too draining

Gone – *Nync: Breakup song about missing an ex that you wish was still around. If there was anything you could do to prevent him/her leaving, you would

So Impossible – Keyshia Cole: You’re giving your all, but things aren’t working out and the only way you could cut ties was doing things to make your ex not love you anymore.

Bad Habit – Destiny’s Child: Time and time again we let our emotions keep us in toxic situations that hurt so bad but you realize it is time to make some changes

Officially Missing You – Tamia: Letting it be known, “the feeling is real. I miss you” while explaining the thoughts flowing thru your head as daily things remind you of your ex.

Wasted Love Freestyle- Jhené Aiko: You get intuitive vibes that your relationship may not last. Feels like you wasted all your love + energy because your significant other doesn’t realize you are the “one”

So Sick – NeYo: Just can’t get your ex off your mind. Everything and every song reminds you of him/her and you are over the reminders

Sorry – Beyonce: Displays strength and courage to end a relationship + not be heartbroken about it. You know your worth so you’ll go and not be afraid to be alone

Yesterday – Dirty Money: A love that isn’t the best for you, but you just can’t leave. You are addicted as if the love, or the person, is a drug you must keep going back to.
